I recently had appointments with Dr. John Chatwell for a hip/groin/lower back/upper thigh muscle issue that was keeping me up at night. I recently moved to Lincoln from Pennsylvania. Wow, wow, wow is all I can think to say. From receptionist to John himself I can honestly say that in my 70 years of doctor experiences these appointments were by far the most uplifting ones of my life. What a beautiful attitude all who work here present! Just an amazing time. Within a week I was already sleeping well and enjoying pain free days. John took the time to talk about what he was doing, why that particular exercise, and how it connected with the rest of the body. Just delightful in every way....if one can say that about choosing to go to painful pulls and tugs etc.! Great place!

I made use of the physical therapist, Julie and Erica, they spent a lot of time working to get my shoulder strengthened so I can get back to work. If I need anything else Ortho done again I'll return to them.

While in physical therapy for my shoulder, I was continually have neck and elbow pain and hand tingling. I told the team about this and Dr. Hurlbut saw me, had my move in several directions and ordered a neck MRI. Found I had another major issue and sent me to a spinal team which resulted in surgery. I am thankful Dr. Hurlbut knew what to do in this instance and didn't even question a second MRI. Again, will not be going to any other ortho.

Dr. Machado and his staff are outstanding! I was seen for a hand injury. Dr. Machado has always been so kind. He made me feel important and that my pain mattered. He attempted to treat the injury non-surgically. When that was not successful, he recommended surgery. Him and his staff worked with the insurance company to ensure communication was superior in order to protect my out of pocket expenses. They clearly explained the procedure and expectations.

The morning of my surgery, Dr. Machado, his staff, and the Bryan West staff all made me feel well taken care of and comfortable. They listened to my concerns and made me feel at ease. Dr. Machado even called me the next day to see how I was feeling. This is truly exceptional!

I have been working with Prairie's physical therapist, Julie, for the past couple of weeks. She has been amazing! She is great at explaining what the exercises will do for my hand and why it is important. She is friendly, honest, and knowledgeable and gives me excellent positive feedback regarding my progress.

I can't say enough wonderful things about Prairie Orthopaedic & Plastic Surgery. In an unfortunate circumstance where injury or medical issues occur, I can't imagine considering any other orthopaedic office in the future. They are all simply wonderful!

Dr. Patrick Hurlbut performed rotator cuff repair surgery and carpal tunnel surgery on both hands at the same time 6 months ago and I could not be more pleased! I met with 4 orthopaedic surgeons before a doctor friend recommended Dr. Hurlbut. The doctor and his staff spend 2 HOURS with me the first time I met with him and explained in detail my condition and what he was recommending my treatment be. Dr. Hurlbut's physical therapy practice is outstanding. They know exactly what the doctor wants them to do with his patients and he communicates with the physical therapists regularly. I recently decided to go to Prairie Orthopaedic & Plastic Surgery on a limb and I am SO happy I did. I have had my in-grown toenail done three times by my primary care physician (Not at Prairie Ortho). Every time I got the procedure done, I was in so much pain and they kept growing back. I came to Prairie Orthopaedic & Plastic Surgery to see if Dr. Krejci could help my situation. SHE DID! She not only removed my ingrown toenail but she did it with out me feeling any pain! She also gave me options and suggestions to make sure they don't grow back. I'm very pleased with not only Dr. Krejci but everyone in the office. The office ladies are SO nice, and very good at working with your schedule. They also think of you if a slot opens to try and get you in sooner. Both Dr. Krejci, her nurse Karla, and Chad are all VERY nice. They never made me feel bad about having ugly toes! They also were very good at keeping conversation, and showing they cared! Had a great experience with this place. I came in with a lacerated flexor tendon for my index finger. Dr. Machado repaired it and after a few months of physical therapy I was able to regain almost all of my motion with my finger!

Several years ago, my daughter had broken her forearm while playing on our back yard jungle gym. We took her to the emergency room to get her arm put in a cast. When the cast came off, we realized the arm was not set properly and she only had about 30% rotation ability. We then were referred to Children's Hospital in Omaha where her arm was re-broken and her bones were drilled our to receive rods to get her bones to heal correctly. The surgery went well and in time she regained nearly 100% use of her arm. We thought we were out of the woods as several years had passed and she had no problems. However, after about 6 or so years, my wife and I noticed our daughter became reluctant to "stress" her arm. Within a week of noticing, she was in so much pain, she just held her arm to her stomach with her other hand. That's when we found Dr. Hurlbut. He took x-rays of her arm, and saw that the rod was being pushed out of her bone and was plucking a nerve every time she moved. Seeing how much pain she was in, he immediately scheduled surgery for her, so she could get some reprieve. Dr. Hurlbut sat down with me and my wife and in great detail, explained the surgery and what he needed to do. He gave us as much time as we needed to ask questions and share concerns. (He was also very kind and caring with my wife when she cried). The surgery went exactly as he had explained and our daughter is back to her normal self. I wished we had found Dr. Hurlbut when the accident happened, but we do count ourselves VERY fortunate to have found him to put an end to our daughters pain.

The granddaughters may have helped Rick's morale. But, the talented Dr. Machado and Shaun Ring and their excellent staff are actually the ones that repaired his broken wrists and got him started on recovery. We cannot say enough of how lucky Rick and I were that they were on call when Rick had his accident. Any future injuries, we would hands down request to have Dr. Machado and his staff take care of us!

I injured my ankle last night and Mallory got me in right away today, Keri was super kind, Dr. Krejci made time for me and was very caring and helpful, and all of the staff were great! Every time I go to this office (I've seen 3/4 of the doctors and PT!) I have an awesome experience. Sometimes orthopaedic surgeons are thought to be all business but you will not find that here. Kudos also to Dr. Byington and the PA for my previous visits.

My husband is a complicated Bryan Trauma patient, Dr. Machado and Shaun Ring PA have been on his case since day 1. They have always been very thorough and answer every question that you have. My husband had multiple facial fractures and had to have his jaw wired shut for over 5 weeks, his surgery was almost 8 hours long. I got updated from the OR nurse or Dr.Machado himself multiple times to let me know that things were going well. This was a scary time for everyone involved but we put all of our trust into these two and I would definately do it over again if I had to. They are absolutely amazing at their jobs and care for their patients very much. Zac always looked forward to seeing them both at his follow up appointments and their encouragement has really helped him to continue moving forward through this difficult time in our lives. We will always recommend Dr. Machado and Shaun, because they are just simply the best there is.

I had an intense wrist fracture from a bike accident and was referred by the ER at Bryan West. Dr. Machado was able to evaluate me the next day, then get surgery scheduled within a few days after that. This was my first real surgery, and afterward the pain was pretty manageable. I did physical therapy with Erica Heiman, and she was awesome as well. It's been about 3 months since the surgery and I have normal range of motion in my wrist/hand! Overall, I'm super impressed. Everyone at Praire Ortho is Super Friendly and helped make an unfortunate situation feel much more normal :).

I spent six years with a Bone on bone knee which left me unable to attend to my life. to walk to enjoy family and outings to do all the little tasks and things that I have loved..after turning 65 I was able to get a insurance policy to supplement my Medicare..I first got to see Dr Hurlbut at the Thayer county health specialty clinic in Hebron NE..He said I was a prime candidate for a total knee.TCHS and Dr Hurlbut set about making sure i could survive the surgery... when I got the clearance I almost cried..so many years of hobbling around and pain...Dr Hurlbut is exceptionally kind and thorough his manner is exceptional..His expertise is top notch...I am 6 weeks out of surgery and making supreme healing and recovery. I am walking around with ease..I am driving without pain. I am moving with freedom to do what I want.I can't thank Dr Hurlbut enough for all he has done..He has given me a life back.

Dr. Machado repaired my traumatically fractured wrist and Julie Obear was my physical therapist. At my 16 week post surgery follow up I am happy to report a full, functional return of strength and range of motion with resulting decreased edema and pain. Perfect outcomes! Dr. Machado and his staff are professional, efficient, friendly, and take the time to really listen to their patients. I highly recommend this clinic for orthopaedic needs.

Dr. Byington did a total knee replacement on me, his attention to detail and explaining the process (including 3D models) so you have a total understanding of your procedure is so refreshing...cuts down a lot of stress on not only the patient but the family too. My procedure was done at Lincoln Surgical Center and again TOP NOTCH staff, I was always attended to promptly. I am shocked by how little pain I am in, more of a discomfort. I chalk this up to Dr. Byington putting the right med in at the right time makes a perfect “pain cocktail” again his attention detail shines through.
